In IPL Cricket, Kings XI Punjab triumphed over Mumbai Indians in a thrilling second Super Over after both the match and the first Super Over were tied for the first time in the tournament’s history in Dubai last night.

Opting to bat first, Mumbai made a challenging score of 176 for 6 in 20 overs with the help of half century from Quinton de Kock 53 off 43 and quickfire 34 off 12 from Kieron Pollard. For Punjab, Mohammed Shami and Arshdeep Singh scalped two wickets apiece.

While chasing, Punjab with KL Rahul’s 77 knock also posted 176 for 6 in the stipulated 20 overs and score went for a tie taking the match for Super Over. For Mumbai, Jasprit Bumrah delivered a terrific performance, picking three wickets for 24.

In the first super over, both the teams finished with the same score of 5 runs, with Mumbai losing 1 wicket and Punjab being 2 down. This forced the match into a historic second super over, where Punjab chased down a target of 12 runs following excellent batting by Chris Gayle and Mayank Agarwal.

Earlier yesterday, Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad via Super Over in Abu Dhabi. Chasing a target of 164 runs to win, Sunrisers Hyderabad ended at 163 for six.

Earlier, Shubman Gill with 36 off 27 balls and Eoin Morgan with 34 off 23 balls guided Kolkata Knight Riders to 163 for five in 20 overs. Hyderabad had won the toss and opted to field.

In today’s encounter, Chennai Super Kings will clash with Rajasthan Royals at Abu Dhabi.
