CHARUSAT Hospital, Changa, becomes the first Charitable Multispeciality Hospital of the Charotar region to be awarded with accreditation by National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH). It’s a constituent board of Quality Council of India (QCI), basically set up to establish and operate accreditation programme for healthcare organizations, pan-India.

CHARUSAT Hospital has been given the certification which will be valid from January 2019 to January 2022. Dr. Uma Patel, COO, Charusat Hospital said the decision to pursue accreditation stimulated an environment of continuous quality improvement. The hospital’s accreditation has benefits all its stakeholders and foremost the patient because of the improved care.

NABH is an autonomous organization established in 2006 with its headquarters at New Delhi. NABH Standards are set in consultation with healthcare experts and providers, experts and patients. To achieve international level standards, a hospital needs to go through stringent scrutiny and quality audit for Registration Process, Admission process, Preoperative ,Intra operative and Post-operative Protocols, Discharge process from the hospital to follow up. All the aspects which are inspected to check whether the policies and protocols are transparent.

It is important to note that, NABH is equivalent to JCI and other International standards including HAS: Haute Authorite de Sante, Australian Council on Healthcare Standards, the Japan Council for Quality in Health Care, and the National Committee for Quality Assurance in the United States. Its standards have been accredited by ISQUA the apex body accrediting the accreditators hence making NABH accreditation at par with the worlds most leading hospital accreditation.

CHARUSAT Hospital was established in 2015 under the aegis of Charusat Healthcare and Research Foundation (CHRF) which applied for NABH accreditation to ensure quality status.

The NABH peer team consisting of three experts from all over the country visited CHARUSAT Hospital for 2 days during 6, 7 October, 2018. The team made comprehensive evaluation of best practice and medical and infrastructure facilities of the Hospital. The Peer Team also interacted with various stake holders like Management, COO, Doctors, Paramedical and support staff, Patients etc.

The NABH accreditation promotes the health, safety and welfare of society by assuring competent public health professionals.

“Achieving NABH accreditation has strengthened CHARUSAT Hospitals’s aspiration to be a World Class Hospital,” said Dr.M C Patel, Secretary, CHRF emphasizing on the quality healthcare services of the hospital.
