Home Minister Amit Shah, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today held a meeting at the residence of BJP President JP Nadda over farmers’ protest.

Agriculture Minister said government is ready for talks and farmer leaders have been invited for talks at 3 PM today.

AIR correspondent reports, farmer leaders present in first round of talks have been invited for the dialogue. The invitation came after consultations among senior BJP leaders over ways to reach farmers’ leaders in order to end the stalemate.

Farmers’ organisations have been agitating against the new farm laws. Government is likely to assure the farmers today about the new reforms, and dispel rumours over the minimum support price for their produce.

Centre has been repeatedly assuring the farmers that the new farm reforms are aimed at doubling their income, and MSP and Mandis will still be in place. It has urged farmers to not harbour misunderstandings regarding the recent agriculture reforms.
