For the first time in Gujarat CBSE National Table Tennis tournament will be organised in Vadodara from 24th to 28th November at the Sama Sports Complex.

Navrachana School is hosting the tournament. Rajendra Trivedi, Minister for Sports, Government of Gujarat, will inaugurate the 2016 CBSE National Table Tennis Tournament at 6 pm on Thursday, November 24.

The tournament will continue till November 28 and the matches will be held at the VMSS Sama Indoor Sports Complex. The Opening Ceremony will be held at the Navrachana School, Sama, who are the official hosts of the Tournament.

This is the first time that the CBSE National Table Tennis Tournament is being organised in Gujarat and Vadodara gets the honour of being the first city to host it. It is also an honour for Navrachana School which will move into its Golden Jubilee year in a month!

Table tennis is a sport of choice with many youngsters and Gujarat, especially Vadodara, has consistently produced talented table tennis players. This tournament will see India No. 1 ranked U-19 player, Manav Thakkar, from Surat, and No.2 Manush Shah of Vadodara (and of Navrachana School!) in action in this Tournament. Manush was also the Captain of the U-19 India Table Tennis team in the Asian Games.

113 CBSE schools from all over India and the Gulf countries (Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, UAE, Muscat) will be sending in their contingents totally over 700 players , coaches and officials.

There will be three categories U-19, U-17, U-14, and players will be competing for Singles (Boys and Girls), Doubles, Mixed Doubles, and Lucky Doubles titles. Matches will begin at about 8.30 am and continue till late in the afternoon at the Sama Indoor Sports Complex.

The first two days of the tournament will be team events and the remaining two will be dedicated to individual events. The Tournament is supported by the Sports Authority of Gujarat and the TT association of Baroda.

The CBSE Observers for the tournament will be Sandeep Gupta, International Table Tennis Coach, and T. Ganeshan, International Table Tennis Referee, who is also appointed as the Tournament Director.
