Sea shores these days have become extensively polluted by tourists coming across and dumping all kinds of waste creating environmental pollution. These days masks have become the biggest pollutant to begin with due to the uprise of the pandemic which in turn is giving rise to various other infections and fatal funguses.
Caravan Classroom has always been inclined to work towards the benefit of society at large. Therefore it took on this initiative of cleaning the Devka sea beach of Daman in a herculine task starring from 5th June World Environment Day.
Joining hands with CPCB, Daman Municipal Council in association with Lions Club Vapi and Plastic bags manufacturers association, it's a 4 day long campaign starting from World Environment day to 8th June celebrating as World Ocean Day.
"Sea beaches are becoming dumping ground for the people as they carelessly thrown plastics and other waste at the beach. Nowadays thrown up masks posed a big danger to everyone and hence we decide to start the initiative to clean up the popular beaches of Gujarat which has the longest coastline. The activity will be six hours daily in morning and evening at Daman sea beach to clean up the beach for the waste, specially the thrown up masks which is very dangerous," Rajeshwari Singh founder Caravan classroom.
Idea behind choosing Daman, she said, it is the nearest from Vadodara and presently the beach is closed for people movement so they chose the time to clean up the beach. Around 40 volunteers will be engaged in the clean up task following all covid related guidelines. All involved are vaccinated.
Rajeshwari said the aim is to clean up the beach and spread awareness in people. The activity will continue and spread to other beaches as it's a ongoing process to clean up the beaches which are majorly polluted by the people visited for fun and slowly make them dumping grounds.
