Sensex surges 958 points; Nifty closes at 17,823

Domestic benchmark indices ended at fresh all-time highs today amid positive global cues. The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange surged 958 points, or 1.6 per cent, to close at a fresh all-time closing high of 59,885. This was the biggest gain for the Sensex in four months.

The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange jumped 276 points, or 1.6 per cent, to also close at a fresh high of 17,823. In the broader market, the BSE Mid-cap Index gained 1.3 per cent and the Small-Cap Index rose nearly 0.9 per cent.
