Sensex, Nifty jump around 1.9 percent in afternoon trade

The Sensex and the Nifty today jumped around 1.9 percent in the afternoon trade. Both stocks rose amid positive cues from the global equity markets.

The Sensex was trading above 57,800 while the Nifty was trading above 17,200 level.

The BSE Sensex climbed 1087 points, or 1.91 percent to trade at 57,834. The NSE Nifty also surged 319 points, or 1.89 percent, to trade at 17,231.
