Flipkart Wholesale, the business-to-business arm of the namesake group, will reorganise its business operations to reduce costs and increase investments in the business.

As part of the reorganisation, all employees of Flipkart Wholesale, other than those in core merchandising and operations, will become part of the respective group functions in Flipkart, expanding their career and growth opportunities, the Bengaluru-based company said on Monday.

"Through this decision, we are sharpening our commitment to business growth by focusing on core business areas and leveraging the capabilities of our central resources," said Adarsh Menon, senior vice president and head at Flipkart Wholesale. "At the same time, we are committed to providing sustainable career paths for our employees. With this development, Flipkart Wholesale employees will transition to Flipkart into new roles and responsibilities at the group level."

Flipkart Wholesale supplies goods primarily to kirana (corner) stores and competes with the likes of Udaan, Amazon and JioMart.

In July 2020, the company took over Walmart India, which operated the Best Price cash-and-carry wholesale business. It launched the B2B online store the following month.

Other than the grocery category, which primarily caters to kirana stores, the firm also operates a fashion category as well as general merchandise category. These include the home accessories, cookware, storage, toys, luggage, sports and fitness categories.
