Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will host pre-Budget talks with stakeholders from various sectors in two meetings in New Delhi today in connection with the impending General Budget 2022-23, according to the Finance Ministry. The meetings are held via the internet.

According to the ministry, Sitharaman will meet with officials from the services and trade sectors in the morning, and then with a second group of experts from industry, infrastructure, and climate change in the afternoon.

Sitharaman met virtually with infrastructure and banking sector players as part of the pre-Budget consultations.

The fourth of the Modi 2.0 administration's four budgets will be presented in the coming months. The Budget will be presented against the backdrop of India's economy recovering slowly from the COVID-19 pandemic..

The growth rate for this fiscal year is expected to be in the double digits. The RBI anticipated 9.5 percent GDP growth in 2021-22 in its most recent bi-monthly monetary policy review.

In the 2019 fiscal year, the government anticipates a fiscal deficit of 6.8% of GDP (GDP).

Budget 2022-23 is likely to be delivered on February 1st, during the first portion of Parliament's Budget session, which usually begins in the last week of January.
