Minister of State for Civil Aviation Gen VK Singh (retd) said in the Rajya Sabha today that the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has leased out eight airports under Public-Private Partnership (PPP), seven of which are handled by Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL).

"So far, Airports Authority of India (AAI) has leased out eight airports namely, Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Guwahati, Thiruvananthapuram and Mangaluru for Operations, Management and Development under Public-Private Partnership (PPP). Out of these, seven airports viz. Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Guwahati, Thiruvananthapuram and Mangaluru are managed by M/s Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL)," In a written response to Rajyasabha member K Somaprasad, Gen Singh (retd) said.

In response to a question about whether Adani Trivandrum International Airport Limited (ATIAL) has fully taken over the operation of Trivandrum Airport, the minister stated that ATIAL began managing, operating, and developing the airport on October 14, 2021, in accordance with the terms of the Concession Agreement.

In 2019, the Adani Group entered the airport industry. The company signed a Concession Agreement (CA) for three airports in February 2020, and operations began on October 31, 2020 at Mangaluru International Airport in Mangaluru, November 2, 2020 at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow, and November 7, 2020 at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad. For the next 50 years, Adani Airports will operate, manage, and develop all six airports.
