New Update

United Kingdom has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the G7 Summit as a guest. The G7 Summit is to be held in June this year.

A statement by the British High Commission said, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is also likely to visit India ahead of the G7 Summit. Mr Johnson’s earlier visit to India was called off by him due to the Coronavirus situation in UK.

The G7, made up of the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the US and the EU, is the only forum where the world’s most influential and open societies and advanced economies are brought together for close-knit discussions.

Prime Minister Johnson will use the first in-person G7 summit in almost two years to ask leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to seize the opportunity to build back better from coronavirus, uniting to make the future fairer, greener and more prosperous. Terming India as ‘pharmacy of the world’, the UK lauded the efforts regarding the production of coronavirus vaccine
