Muhammad Ali passed away at the age of 74 on Friday night at a hospital outside Phoenix, Arizona. He was suffering from Parkinson’s disease since last 32 years. He had earlier been hospitalized due to respiratory complications. A funeral will be held on Wednesday in his hometown Louisville, Kentucky.

Muhammad Ali was one of the greatest fighters in the world history. His passion and dedication for boxing inspired many boxers and was popular world wide for his commitment towards boxing.

This Legendary boxer had won the World Heavyweight Championship and was the only man to have won the World Heavyweight championship three times. Ali defeating Liston in Miami on February 25, 1964, became world heavyweight champion for the first time.

At 22, he became the youngest boxer to take the heavyweight title from a reigning champion. After winning the match he called himself, “I am the greatest!” He also won a gold medal in the light heavyweight category in 1960 Rome Olympics. As an amateur, he won 100 out of 108 fights.

Muhammad Ali was named as a sportsman of the 20th century by sports IIIustrated magazine and Sports personality of the century by the BBC.

He was quick with hands and also with words, His words became famous when he quoted - he could “float like a beauty, sting like a bee.”

Known as the “Fight of the Century,” Ali and Joe Frazier fight for Frazier’s title on March 8, 1971 in New York where he sufferred his first professional loss.

U.S president George W. Bush presented Ali with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the United State’s highest civilian honor, on November 9,2005.
