Blind car rally in Vadodara

To spread awareness and showcase the capabilities of the blind Vadodara Vibrant Round Table 210 (VVRT) and Baroda Ladies Circle 76 (BLC), is organising a ”Blind Car Rally 2017” hosted on 9th April, 2017. The rally will be flagging off from Navrachana International School.

The Car Rally for the Blind, will be a day long exciting family event. The rally is to signify the importance of helping the divyang citizens of our country. This rally is a unique event to spread awareness and showcase the capabilities of the blind despite their handicap.

“Car Rallywith the Blind” is a unique family event giving the participants a beautiful experience teaching them to value and respect all individuals equally. In the Rally ‘YouThe Driver’ is instructed by a ’Blind Person’ the Navigator on the secret rally route around the city using a Braille map.

The route is 40-50 kms long, driving along eight Marshall Points. The idea is to complete a perfectly coordinated drive based on the time-speed distance (TDS) parameters and not to reach first. About 600 plus participants along with navigators will take part in the rally with 100 to 125 cars.
The Blind Car Rally aims at empowering the visually impaired to honour and focus on their strengths. Nothing is impossible for them. The cause is to encourage them to rise from the bias and to show that they have strengths and abilities only if given a chance. The prime motto of this event is ”Vision Inspired by Vision Impaired”.

The funds generated from the event will be utilized for the welfare of visually challenged people of Blind People Association, Ahmedabad and the Association of the Blind, Vadodara. Prominent citizens and dignitaries of Vadodara city, along with major corporates will be
participating in this event.

The organisers believe that when various prominent people of Vadodara from corporates and large organizations will see the ability of blind to work, the blind people
will also get employment opportunities.

VVRT and BLC are Vadodara Chapters for The Round Table India and Ladies Circle India, a reputed social service organization with branches all over India. Both the organizations have greatly contributed to social activities and note-worthy projects around Baroda.

Round Table India has been successfully organizing Blind Car rallyin cities across India for the last 10 years and this is the third time it is happening in the city of Vadodara.

The first BCR‘was organized by VVRT in the year 2013. The second one was in the year 2015. Over the two years the rally has attracted over 1000 people who had actively participated in the event.
