To increase passenger amenities at Vadodara railway station the division starts a new initiative of Battery Operated Cars to help old age, Divyangjan and sick passengers. The facility named Sevarath was inaugurated on 14th February at the railway station with two such cars pressed into service.

Western Railway, Vadodara Division and ONGC-Vadodara come together for the social cause to provide Battery Operated Cars (BOCs) at Vadodara Railway Station. The disabled (Divyangjan), old age and sick passengers can avail the facility on first come first served basis under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) with no charge to passenger or to the Railways.

Ranjan Bhatt Member of Parliament, Vadodara inaugurated the facility “Sevarath” at Vadodara Railway Station which can help the beneficiaries to move swiftly at the platforms even in peak hours. DRM Amit Kumar Singh, Dr. Zenia Gupta, Sr. Divisional Commercial Manager, Arun Kumar, ED-Basin Manager, ONGC-Vadodara, N S Negi, Support Manager, ONGC-Vadodara and other officials from Railway and ONGC were also present at the inauguration of the facility.

This project is named as “Seva Rath” and funded by the ONGC under their CSR activity. The cost of procurement and running two numbers of Battery Operated Cars for one year is Rs. 16.68 lakhs. ONGC has committed running these BOCs for five years through an NGO “AWAM” at Vadodara Railway station and thereafter based on the decision of all parties it can be extended further.

The two BOC’s shall initially cater to the needs of passengers on Platform no.1, 7 and 6. The facility can be further escalated depending on the response in future. The railways starts helpline numbers “9081512341” and “9081512342” for calling the BOC with app based feedback system have been displayed at the station.
