The Ranji season is about to start and Baroda team is all set to improve their game under the captaincy of Irfan Pathan. As this time the team will play three matches on their home ground it’s a golden opportunity for them to win and score points.

This year under the captaincy of Irfan Pathan and coach Atul Bedade the selectors choose a team with majority of youngsters. The whole team went through rigorous training including the Yo Yo fitness test and as per the physio and the trainer the whole team passed the level of fitness.

The captain Irfan Pathan is all set to play aggressively this season and said that this year is equally crucial for him as he is there as a player, captain and mentor for the players. “My wish is to work on the strength of our team and make sure to prepare a core group. Fast bowling is our strength and it’s my personal goal to ready four to six bowlers for Baroda who can help the team in future. I specially make sure to talk to the players personally and guide them where they fell short,” said a confident Irfan Pathan.

The Baroda team for the two games is already selected where they play their opening game against MP in Indore and back home they will play Andhra Pradesh. The team is also happy to be Atul Bedade as the coach. The upcoming youngsters are given a chance ahead of the international bowlers like Munaf Patel. The selectors also added that the team is for the first two matches and you cannot rule out any player like Munaf who might be get chance if anyone fails to perform.

“The players are very relaxed as Atul Bedade often crack jokes and make the dressing room lively. Secondly he is BCCI recognised curator which gives an edge to judge the pitch and plan the strategy. We are going in the game with positive frame of mind and plan our strategy as per the game,” said Pathan.

Baroda will play three away and three games at home. There are total 28 teams divided in four groups with seven teams in each group.
