of pride for the city as Baroda player Shashwat Rawat is selected for world cup
India U-19 Team. The BCA -19 captain is excited to perform on bouncy wickets of
South Africa and enjoy his game.
Shashwat
Gopal Rawat, born on April 6, 2001 at Gajiwali, Uttarakhand is a all rounder.
He is a south paw in batting and bowl Right-arm medium-fast.
Shashwat Rawat started his carrier with school cricket in Baroda and has exceled in his game. He also performed in local club tournaments over the periods. He made his debut for Baroda U-19 team during the season 2018-19 and was nominated as ‘Captain’ of Baroda U-19 Team for the Cooch Behar Trophy Tournament. He scored 616 runs in 16 innings with an average of 38.50.
He also
played four matches of U-19 Vinoo Mankad Trophy One Day Tournament and scored
174 runs with highest score of 109 with an average of 43.50.
Based on the
performance of season he was selected from NCA U-19 Camp and was also selected
for India U-19 Team for Quadrangular One Day Tournament featuring Afghanistan
U-19 and South Africa U-19 Team.
This year he
also represented Baroda U-19 as Captain for U-19 Vinoo Mankad Trophy played at
Guwahati. He scored 159 runs with an average of 26.50. The team topped the
table with 28 points and qualified for All India knock-outs. Talking about his
performance with India Youth Team, he played 11 matches scored 164 runs in 10
innings with an average of 16.40.
BCA office
bearers felicitated the young cricketer for selected in Indian team to
represent the country. Shashwat Rawat is feeling proud to represent the courtry
and wants to enjoy his game.
“Its a
moment of proud for me after i was selected in the team to represent my country
in the U19 world cup. The bouncy wickets in South Africa will be challenging
but i want to enjoy my game and give my best performance for the team. Its a
previlige to represent the BCA as well as India in the tournament and we try
our best to become champions,” said a confident Shashwat Rawat.
