Army chief makes farewell visit to Northern Command

Outgoing Indian Army chief, Gen. Dalbir Singh on Monday paid a farewell visit to the Northern Command in Jammu and Kashmir, an official statement said.

“The COAS (chief of army staff) visited Siachen base camp, Kargil, Leh and Srinagar and interacted with the troops during his farewell visit to the Northern Command,” said the statement by army’s Udhampur-headquartered Northern Command.

Leh is the headquarters of the 14 Corps and Srinagar hosts the 15 Corps.

Gen Singh will hand over the command to Lt. Gen. Bipin Rawat, currently the Vice Chief of Army Staff, on the afternoon of December 31.
