Union Home Minister Amit Shah was discharged from Delhi’s All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) hospital on Thursday and is expected to attend the ongoing Parliament session from Monday.

Shah, 55, was re-admitted to AIIMS on Sunday night, two weeks after he was discharged from the premier hospital following post-COVID treatment. The minister tested positive on August 2 and was under treatment at Medanta hospital in Gurugram till August 14.

With his recovery, Shah may attend the remaining monsoon session of the parliament that began on Monday with Covid safety measures, reported NDTV.

The pandemic has cast a shadow over the ongoing session of the Parliament with at least 30 MPs and more than 50 employees testing positive for COVID-19.

All parliamentarians and staff of the secretariats of both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha had undergone mandatory COVID-19 tests before the start of the monsoon session.

All those who have tested positive have been asked to stay in quarantine and they did not come to Parliament.

The monsoon session, which began on Monday, is being held in two different shifts—Rajya Sabha will sit in the mornings and Lok Sabha in the second half of the day.
