Congress state president Amit Chavda on Wednesday visited Corona patients at Sayaji Hospital in Vadodara and reviewed the medical treatment and facilities. Later while addressing a press conference, he said that the current disaster in Gujarat is a government-made disaster.

A state like Gujarat has not been able to create an oxygen system, and 80 people have died in the last 3 days due to lack of oxygen in the cities and villages. This is not due to any illness but due to mismanagement of the government. This is a crime of intentional homicide, so crime of manslaughter shall be registered against the government.

Attacking BJP Amit Chavda said, the WHO had issued guidelines and warnings at an early stage, although the Namaste Trump program was carried out ignoring it. The BJP rulers have not made any preparations or arrangements in 13 months and have held political celebrations and festivities. People are dying every day because of government mismanagement.

He further said that Vadodara needs 170 metric tonnes of oxygen per day. Only 140 metric tons of oxygen was supplied yesterday, so if there is a shortage of 30 metric tons of oxygen, it will affect 3,000 patients, many of whom are dying due to lack of oxygen.

This is because of the careless and irresponsible policy of the government. People have to wander for not only oxygen but also remedivir injections. Only 40 per cent injections is supplied against the demand. Up to 25,000 people have been forced to buy injections from black market and people are dying due to lack of ventilators.

The Congress state president said that people who deposit tax money are dying due to lack of injection and oxygen. The government has failed miserably. We are with the government and ready to do whatever help is needed.

The help of experts should be sought. The situation is going to get worse in the near future. The government should call an all-party meeting, call experts and plan for the long term. They appeal the government to protect people by giving them ventilators, oxygen and injections.

He added that the big question is why the government did not provide oxygen, why people do not get remedisivir even though it is produced in Gujarat. This is the result of mistakes made by the government. So the crime of manslaughter should be registered against them.

Amit Chavda visited Sayaji Hospital and discussed the treatment and facilities available to Covid patients at the hospital. He appealed the government to take concrete steps in view of the growing corona infection in the state.
