Aug 31, Storyteller to generations of Indians, Amar Chitra Katha will now publish and distribute a special edition of a comic book focusing on Swachh Bharat Mission.
An MoU was signed by the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) with Amar Chitra Katha to publish and distribute a 32-page comic.
“Given that youth and students are one of the biggest change agents for any social transformation, the comic book would aim to engage with them in an innovative manner,” Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu said.
“I hope the comic book goes on to inspire children to take steps and create a long-lasting impact on the cleanliness of their homes, schools, neighbourhoods and eventually their cities.
“I hope that this initiative will push the Swachh Bharat Mission one step further towards making it a ‘jan andolan’,” he added.
To amplify the message, Amar Chitra Katha will be developing and creating the special edition in English and translating into Hindi.
The comic will include inspirational stories from the Mission, cleanliness rankings of cities, public figures and ambassadors, environmental impact and stories of individuals and organisations that can inspire children to the concept of ‘Swachhata’.
Amar Chitra Katha has been creating graphic stories taken from Indian mythology, history and literature for almost 50 years to acquaint Indian children with their heritage.
