Players from 12 district will take part in the tournament held in memory of 141st birth anniversary of Professor Manikrao.

Kho Kho is an ancient and popular tag game invented in Maharashtra and played by teams of 12 nominated players out of fifteen. Nine of the players enter the field as opponent team and sit on their knees. Three players from defending team try to avoid being touched by the other team.

It is one of the popular traditional games in India like Kabaddi. It is one of the oldest outdoor Indian sport dating back to prehistoric era. Now it is played by school children as competitive game in their sports tournaments.

The All Gujarat Pro Kho Kho League championship in Vadodara will feature 72 players from Vadodara, Chota Udepur, Surat, Tapi, Anand, Arvalli, Ahmedabad, Amreli, Panchmahal and Surendranagar.

Total six teams will be formed named after historical places in the city and all the players will be equally divided in there to play in the league.

The tournament will be played as per rules of the game with five matches per day. The winner team will be awarded cash prize of 20,000 followed by runner up team getting 15,000 after the tournament. Apart from that awards will be given to best player, attacker, defender, all rounder and upcoming player in the Kho Kho league.

The tournament is organised by Shri Jummadada Vyayam Mandir under the aegis of Gujarat State Kho Kho Association and Baroda District Kho Kho Association. The aim is to bring back the golden history of the game which somehow is slowly lost its place in the sports world.
