There is more income from making product rather then selling raw farm produce – Dharmesh Patel
Experimentation with adventure in every field of life gives more success. The field of agriculture is also not excluded from this. Farmers who are constantly experimenting with new methods of farming become motivators in making farming more profitable.
Dharmesh Patel, a cow farmer from Wankaner in Savli taluka, is moving towards increasing the value of his pure farm produce after a successful venture of cow based farming.
He has recently made a new experiment of making powder from bananas and native tomatoes. It should be noted here that banana powder sold by online selling companies is sold at very high prices.
As an experiment, Dharmesh peeled 10 kg of raw bananas, made chips, dried them over medium heat and made about 1.5 kg of powder. In the same way, after processing 5 kg of local tomatoes, about one and a half grams of powder has been made.
Raw banana powder is rich in calcium and can be mixed with other flours to make bread. It can be used to make halwa and farali dishes.
In the same way, sweet and sour tomato powder can make cooking spicy, and the big advantage is that it does not contain any harmful chemical elements. He is thinking of making banana wafer, tomato sauce in the same way.
Farm products like bananas or tomatoes are the law of demand and supply when prices are high. He says that it is better to sell a product like this than to sell the crop at very low price.
He is currently offering banana and tomato powder to family farmer member customers for testing.
Family Farmer is an informal group that buys organic farm produce and cow’s milk from farmers like Dharmeshbhai, who practices pure farming. About 40 families living in Vadodara are connected with Dharmesh and just like a family doctor, he is their family farmer.
He is following the motto of cow based farming. In summer he is planning to cultivate vegetables along with bitter gourd farm. So under mixed cropping system he has grown organic red cabbage, broccoli. The crop of potatoes and chickpeas from cow farming is almost ready in their fields.
Banana powder is available but he believe to be the first to experiment with making banana powder produced from cow based organic farming.
Cow based farming is the demand of the hour for healing health. It requires experimentation and product diversity and Dharmesh has set the direction for this type of farming.
