Accused in Fategunj custodial death produced in court as remand ends

CID request four more days of remand

All the six accused in Vadodara Fategunj custodial death matter was produced before the court after their 10 days remand ends on Friday. The CID demand four more days of custody as the accused are not cooperating with the investigation about location of the body.

On Friday the CID team reached Vadodara court with the six accused as their 10 days remands ends today. The team asked four more days of remand as they are not cooperating with the investigation.

The team is yet to find the body, the vehicle used by the accused, things used and people helped them disposed of the body. The team will try to recover the body during this period of remand.

Earlier the CID crime team reached Fategunj police station for reconstruction of the crime. The team reconstruct the scene from the start when the team arrested Shaikh Babu and reached the police station where they tortured him to death.

The accused tied up Babu Sheikh in which room of the police station and beat him up, how his body was taken away after his death and disposed of at this place and other details will be accessed by the CID crime team as they reconstruct the whole scene from the beginning.

 It is to be mentioned that till date the body of Sheikh Babu was not found. The CID crime brought the accused to Vadodara to get the location of Sheikh Babu’s body after the reconstruction of crime.

Originally from Telangana and resident of Ahmedabad, Sheikhbabu Nisar came to Vadodara where he was detained by the Fategunj police on suspicion. On the other hand, Sheikh Babu’s family members started searching for him after he failed to return and then filed a complaint of his disappearance in the police station. On the other hand, after a writ petition was filed in the High Court, the police investigation revealed that Sheikh Babu was tortured at the police station and his body was disposed.

 So a murder case was registered against PI Dharmendrasinh Gohil, PSI Dasharath Rabari, 4 constables Pankaj, Yogendrasinh, Rajesh and Hitesh and all the accused fled. The investigation was handed over to CID crime (Gandhinagar) and SP Girish Pandya had started investigating in the case.

All the accused, including the PI were absconding for more than a month and various teams were formed to arrest them.  Meanwhile, all the accused appeared before the SP at the CID Crime office in Gandhinagar and their corona tests were then conducted.

  All of them are later arrested after the reports came out negative and the accused have been produced before a Vadodara court. The court granted 10 days remand to all the accused.
