The Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Delhi’s Kalkaji constituency, Atishi Marlena, has tested positive for COVID-19.
Atishi was tested on June 16 and the results came out positive on Wednesday. She had complained of having a mild fever and cough on Tuesday. She is now in home quarantine on account of having mild symptoms.
Delhi Chief Minister tweeted saying that Atishi had played an important role in the fight against COVID-19 and that he hoped she would be healthy again as soon as possible.
AAP’s spokesperson, Akshay Marathe, also tested positive.
So far, three AAP MLAs including Atishi have tested positive for the coronavirus, with the other two being Vishesh Ravi from Karol Bagh and Rajkumar Anand of Patel Nagar.
In addition, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain was admitted to the Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty Hospital on Tuesday after presenting with a “high grade fever and a sudden drop in oxygen levels”.
Jain had been tested for the virus on Tuesday, but the results came out negative. He was tested again on Wednesday 24 hours after the first test.
Last week, Kejriwal tested negative for the coronavirus.
Delhi has had a total of 44,688 cases of which 26,351 were listed as active as of June 17. 1,837 have died from the virus in the national capital.
