A new Vande Bharat Express between Surat and Udaipur is set to strengthen rail connectivity between Gujarat and Rajasthan. The Railway Board has approved the service, with the inaugural run planned for October 2, 2026, and regular operations expected to begin from October 3–4, depending on the direction and operational schedule.
The semi-high-speed train will cover around 690 km in approximately 7 hours and 30 minutes. From Surat, the train will depart at 6:10 am and reach Udaipur at 1:40 pm. On the return journey, it will leave Udaipur at 3:35 pm and arrive in Surat at 11:00 pm. The service will operate six days a week, except Tuesday.
The Udaipur-to-Surat service will reach Bharuch at around 10:22 pm before arriving at Surat at 11 pm. On the onward journey, passengers from Surat will be able to reach Udaipur in the afternoon, allowing them to complete the journey during the daytime.
The new service is expected to improve direct connectivity for passengers travelling between South Gujarat and the Mewar region of Rajasthan, while also supporting tourism, business and employment-related travel. The new Surat-Udaipur service is also linked to the discontinuation/restructuring of the existing Udaipur-Asarva Vande Bharat service.
