The second edition of the Indian Air Force’s multinational air exercise Tarang Shakti 2026 began at Air Force Station Jodhpur on Saturday, bringing together air forces from more than 40 countries. The exercise is scheduled to continue until October 12.
The exercise features participation from countries including the United States, France, Australia, Germany, Greece, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the UAE. Eight foreign countries are participating with air assets, while 32 others are joining as observers. The drills are designed to provide experience in multinational air operations and improve coordination and interoperability between participating forces. Several advanced aircraft are taking part in the exercise. The US is expected to deploy F-35 fighter jets, France is participating with Rafale aircraft, while the UAE is contributing F-16s. The Indian Air Force will field platforms including Rafale and Su-30MKI fighters, along with airborne early warning and control aircraft, transport aircraft and air-to-air refuelling tankers. More than 80 Indian and foreign aircraft are expected to participate.
The exercise will cover a wide range of air operations, including counter-air missions, air defence, reconnaissance, airlift, aerial refuelling and complex tactical operations. The IAF has said the exercise is intended to promote operational learning, greater interoperability and stronger partnerships among participating air forces.
