Aim to give platform to upcoming football players
Total 70 plus teams from India and abroad take part in the second season of box football tournament Eclipse Cup Season. After the tremendous response from the inaugural season the organisers plan to organise the second one in the one year to give players a chance to showcase their skills.
The seven a side tournament will feature teams from Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Bharuch, Navsari, Chhota Udepur, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Jaipur and two teams from South Africa. This time eight girls teams also take part in the tournament coming from Navsari, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Vadodara. The matches will be played in U17, U20 and U23 categories.
“Total 15 matches will be played per day on knockout format and winners will be moved to play semifinals and then two top teams will be playing final on 9th November for the championship. The ground this time is bigger 45/22 meters and 28 feet in height on artificial grass carpet. The winners will be awarded cash prizes, medals and trophies for best goalkeeper and player. The aim is to develop the football culture in the city and give a much needed platform for the players,” said Pooja Jaiswal from the organising team.
National level player and mentor of the tournament Mondal says, the tournament proves to be a stepping stone for the upcoming football players. Earlier this year we organise five a side and after the good response the organising team decide to comes up with 7 a side tournament on a bigger ground.
The tournament will be played from 7th to 9th November at The Eclipse Sports at Vasna Bhayli road.
