22-year-old student jumps off moving train after spotting smoke emerging from a compartment

A 22-year-old student, Twinkle Lunar, suffered head injuries on Thursday when she jumped off a moving train at Wadala station.

The girl had panicked after commuters spotted smoke emanating from a train compartment. A senior Central Railway official told officials that the incident took place because the brake of a coach of a Panvel-bound was not released on time,

“The other passengers escaped without any injuries as the train was moving slowly but Lunar lost her balance and fell on the platform”,the officials said.

She is undergoing treatment at King Edward Memoria(KEM) Hospital and is under stable condition.
