As per the film producer the subject crawled for the last three years. He said that he is a Delhi boy and all his films like Rang De Basanti, Delhi 6, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Mirzaya all are connected to Northern India. But he stayed in Mumbai from since 1998 and he watched the city turned into a world class city. The building are taller now but the slums are still around them which surprised him everytime. He also said that films like Salaam Bombay, Slumdog Millionaire and other stories inspired him a lot.

Remembering about the slums he spent a month long time there and spent with the kids there. He said what amazed him is how much they struggled in their lives and in spite of that they are so live. He said all depends on the approach of the person as when he see the slums from a height of a tall building he never feel that someone living more in height is looking him in the same way.

He said his story is based on quality based life and the efforts is to see life differently which gives inspiration and makes it beautiful. He said that they shot a Holi song with 200 people and that time around 1000 people were there with colours on them.

The special thing about the film is the title as the story is about four friends but Pradhanmantri name is in the title. Co incidentally in Rang De Basanti in 2006 is one of the biggest hit of Rakyesh which also based on friendship. Now with his upcoming new film it will be interesting to see how Rakyesh present the same subject in his film.

Three years ago Mehra along with a NGO from Ahmedabad inspired with Rang De Basanti wants change and after visiting Gandhi Ashram and witnessing model toilets of Mahatma he started to built toilets in corporation schools. His eight years old character Kanahiya alias Kanu wanst to make toilet for his young mother and the role is played by National award winner Anjali Patil. He said that they built 20 toilets in the first year and later in next two years they built 800 toilets.

He remembers and said that during the stay in slums one day he saw that the building in front of him has around 1000 toilets attached to every flats in the floors. However However when he saw around him he found that there are 5000 shangs around but not a single toilet is there. He said that 10/10 shangs have living room, bed room and kitchen but no bathrooms inside. With his film ‘Mere Pyare Pradhanmantri’ Rakyesh concentrates only on the life inside the slum and coming up with something different. The film also proved to be a visual delight for the audience.
