The paper titled “Study of Vacuum on Thermal Insulation of Stainless Steel Vacuum Flask” of Shivam Trivedi, a 2nd year student of the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Faculty of Technology and Engineering department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering was selected in an international conference “Advances in Materials Engineering (AME 2016) which was held on 19th and 20th December 2016 in VMCC, IIT Bombay.

The aim of the conference was to address the challenges, where knowledge in materials engineering becomes an important tool to solve problems in the fields related to structural applications, protection of materials, energy storage and health care, primarily in India and Austria. To facilitate the same, AME 2016 brought together scientists, researchers and engineers from research institutes, universities and industries to a common forum.

The scientists, researchers and students from various universities around the globe such as University of Cambridge UK, Massachusetts Institute of Technology USA, University of Salzburg Austria, Imperial College London, National Institute for Materials Science Japan, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology Saudi Arabia, Vrije University of Brussels Belgium, IIT Bombay, IIT Roorkee, IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Delhi, Indian Institute of Science, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre India and etc are presenting their research papers in this prestigious and unique conference in India.

There were 40 Invited talks and 40 contributed talks by various researchers.

Shivam Trivedi of MSU was the only student from Gujarat in the conference and also the youngest presenter in the conference among all other presenters from round the globe and his presentation was on 19th of December at VMCC, IIT Bombay.

This research paper studied the performance of stainless steel vacuum flasks under different vacuum levels for excellent temperature retention. Cost efficiency and a high calibre product for large scale production were the giving of this research project. This research paper will give a new direction in the field of vacuum flasks and its manufacturing techniques. This research gives an alternative for a low cost vacuum flasks for common man which will be having better temperature retention performance. Hot content remains hot for a further longer time and cold content remains cold.

This research will hence bring a revolution in the field of vacuum flasks.
