2 lakh cusecs of water will be released in phases

Instructions are given to villages of four talukas alongside Mahi river to be vigilant after the decision to release water from Kadana dam. 20000 cusecs of water is being released from Kadana Dam in Central Gujarat into Mahi river through power house. The Vadodara District Flood Control Room has been informed that in view of the continuous inflow of water at Kadana Reservoir, it is planned to release 2 lakh cusecs of water in phases from the hydroelectric power station and gate in Mahi river.

After the suggestion of District Collector Shalini Agarwal, the administration of Desar, Savli, Vadodara village and Padra taluka of Vadodara district has been asked to be fully alert. The villages of this taluka are situated on the banks of Mahi river. The concerned taluka bodies have been instructed to take precautionary measures in these villages and take appropriate precautionary measures if required.

The people living in villages situated alongside Mahi river have also been requested to take various precautions including staying away from river, banks and keeping livestock away at safe place.
