At least 10 people died and several others were injured after a two-storey building collapsed following a cylinder blast in Uttar Pradesh on Monday. The incident took place on Monday morning around 7:30 am in Waleedpur village under Mohammadabad Police Station in Mau.

Many people are feared to be trapped in the house while locals present at the site are trying to rescue the injured. The injured have been taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

According to the state’s Home Department sources, the impact of the blast was so strong that the two-storey house in Walidpur village where it took place was blown into small granules. People in the area are reported to have heard a loud explosion. Flames occurred from the damaged building soon after.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken notice of the incident and ordered concerned officials to make proper arrangements for the treatment of the injured. He also expressed condolences to the families of the deceased people.

The death toll could climb as several people are feared to be trapped inside the building. A team of police and fire brigade is currently at the site of the incident and is carrying out the rescue work.
