Locals protested against OPAL Dahej after killing of birds and seven buffaloes in area

Locals villagers from Ambetha and Suva village of Vagra taluka today protested against the killing of about 25 water birds and seven buffaloes near Suva village about 7 KM from Dahej port, on Sunday 5th June 2016.

Villagers blamed Dahej based ONGC Petro additions Limited (OPAl) plant for discharging chemical water in the nearby creek, consuming which water birds and cattle died, they blamed.

On 5th June 2016 when Bharuch district administration was busy celebrating World Environment Day at the same time these birds and cattle lost their lives by consuming polluted water.

Regarding incident officials said that the exact reason will be known only after a post-mortem report.

The killing was seen near the place where waters of Narmada River merge with the sea. On 6th large number of villagers gathered with deceased near the main gate of OPAL and demanded for compensation. Seeing the situation getting worse heavy police bandobast was briefed by the police.
