The Delhi Police has summoned Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and four others in connection with its probe into the doctored video case of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Reddy, who is also the Telangana Congress chief, has been asked to appear with his mobile phone allegedly used for posting the fake video on X, say reports.

The video was allegedly shared by the official X handle of the Telangana Congress, after which many party leaders reposted it.

In the video, Shah’s statements indicating a commitment to abolish quota for Muslims on religious ground in Telangana were changed to make it seem that he was advocating scrapping all reservations.

The Special Cell of the Delhi Police registered an FIR following a complaint filed by the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C), which is under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

News agency PTI quoted sources as saying that the FIR was registered under various sections of the IPC and the IT Act and that arrests are likely to follow across the country.

Responding to the summons issued to him, Reddy said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is using Delhi Police to win elections.
